Harris Announces Donation of Building to the Hammond Redevelopment Commission

HAMMOND, October 3, 2006 – Harris is pleased to announce that it is donating one of its downtown Hammond properties, located at 5209 Hohman Avenue, to the Hammond Redevelopment Commission. The City intends to use the approximately 8,300-square-foot building to house its new business incubator, which will provide local entrepreneurs with affordable office space to help get their ideas to the next stage of development. The incubator will be run by Purdue University Calumet in partnership with the City.

"Small business is the foundation of our economy, and this donation signals our recognition of the powerful role played by local entrepreneurs in economic growth," said John Rudy, Regional President, Northwest Indiana, Harris N.A. "Harris is proud to do its part to ensure the continued growth and development of downtown Hammond and the Northwest Indiana market."

"Harris' donation will help ensure the continued revitalization of downtown Hammond," said Peter Novak, Executive Director of Hammond's Department of Planning and Development. "We're happy that Harris continues to be a good partner with the City of Hammond."

"We applaud both Harris and the Hammond Redevelopment Commission for this innovative idea," said Nabil Ibrahim, Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Purdue University Calumet. "The building is available immediately and is well-suited for high-tech small business incubators."
