    Harris Announces Lead Donation of $50,000 to Purdue University Calumet's YJean Chambers Hall

    HAMMOND, October 5, 2006 – Harris is very pleased to announce a donation of $50,000 to Purdue University Calumet to help create the YJean Chambers Hall.

    "Education is one of our key priorities when it comes to our commitment to the community," said John Rudy, Regional President, Northwest Indiana Region, Harris N.A. "We believe this donation will help equip Purdue University Calumet students with the communication skills necessary to have a competitive edge in today's job market."

    The hall will be outfitted with moveable seating, a portable stage, video projection equipment, lighting and sound. Located in the Student Union and Library, it will be hub of speaking, listening, music and the arts.

    "The YJean Chambers Hall will be the lasting memory of Dr. Chambers, who brought energy and passion to her students throughout 20 years of inspirational teaching in the Department of Communication and Creative Arts," said Judith Kaufman, Vice Chancellor for Advancement, Purdue University Calumet. "Harris" generous gift will h elp ensure that legacy lives on."
