M&I Branches in Southeast Valley Donate Food to Fight Hunger
Bank raises over 600 pounds of food for United Food Bank

MESA, Ariz., Sept 24, 2011 – Nearly one in five Arizona residents do not have enough money for food, and every week, nearly 22,000 receive food assistance. Knowing that hunger rates spike during the summer months, Arizona branches of M&I, a part of BMO Financial Group, collected canned and non-perishable food items throughout the month of August. 
Southeast Valley branches collected 639 pounds of food, including canned soups, tuna, fruits and vegetables, baby formula and more to benefit United Food Bank. 
"We want to thank everyone who donated and helped make this food drive such a success," said Stephen Johnson, President of M&I Arizona. "Hunger is an ongoing challenge for many Arizonans, and M&I is proud to provide assistance to those in need."  
United Food Bank provides hunger relief and food assistance through a network of partner agencies in a service area including Eastern Maricopa, Gila, Pinal, Southern Apache and Southern Navajo Counties.
M&I has been giving back to the communities it serves for more than 160 years. In addition to the food drive, M&I has hosted school supply drives; created Southern Arizona's Heroes Day which recognizes stand-out first responders; and regularly hosts financial seminars for various audiences including senior citizens, minorities, young families starting out and small business owners. Additionally, since 2001, M&I has held annual company-wide Community Days during which employees volunteer their time and give back to neighborhoods.
