BMO Harris Bank Provides Healthy Donation to American Family Children's Hospital
Bank makes one of the first contributions to hospital's recently launched "Sick Kids Can't Wait" campaign

CHICAGO, Feb. 21, 2012 - BMO Harris Bank announced today the donation of $100,000 to the American Family Children's Hospital in Madison, Wis. As part of their ongoing partnership, BMO Harris Bank is proud to be an initial contributor to the American Family Children's Hospital's "Sick Kids Can't Wait" campaign, launched Feb. 20.

BMO Harris Bank will provide the funds to support a new medical staff team room in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Pediatric Intensive Care Unity (PICU). While health care workers can attest to how stressful their work is, especially when caring for children, this team room will provide an area for medical staff to decompress, refocus and re-energize. It will allow them to become more attuned to their work and be able to demonstrate a positive, friendly attitude that is imperative for patient and family interaction.

In addition, the bank will be the first corporate partner to donate one of the highly specialized incubators needed for the surgical NICU. The American Family Children's Hospital NICU will have the most advanced, developmentally-supportive incubators, designed to promote the growth and stability of fragile newborns. These incubators have the ability to control heat, humidity, oxygen, light and noise, while providing easy access to caregivers and parents of the newborn, supporting a family-centered care environment.

The Surgical/High Acuity NICU will ultimately be the first of its kind in Wisconsin with all private rooms and family space, allowing parents the opportunity to nurture, feed and bond with their newborns.

"Sick Kids Can't Wait" is a four-year, $32 million building project to meet the growing needs of patients and families at American Family Children's Hospital. It's the first phase of a 10-year strategic plan to complete American Family Children's Hospital on the University of Wisconsin Health campus. The project will add a total of 26 beds in pediatric intensive care, another operating room and imaging capabilities within the children's hospital. All the facilities will be designed and equipped specifically for pediatric patients. To date, $6.5 million in private funding has been raised, but an additional $9.9 million is needed from the community to complete phase one of the 10-year plan.
