BMO Private Bank Celebrates the Art of Giving at Norton Donor of Art Luncheon
In conjunction with Annie Leibovitz exhibition sponsorship
WEST PALM BEACH, FL (March 6, 2013) – The art of giving was celebrated recently when the Norton Museum of Art honored patrons who have donated paintings, sculpture and other works of art over the past year at its annual Donor of Arts luncheon. The event, sponsored by BMO Private Bank, was held in the Museum’s theater.
Hope Alswang, executive director of the Norton, and Eileen Minnick, vice president and senior trust administrator of BMO Private Bank, welcomed more than 50 patrons and supporters to the event. Ms. Alswang presented a slideshow of photographs of all gifts of art received during the past year and informed donors where their gift of art is on display at the Museum.
“Those who donate art for the enjoyment of others in our community are to be commended for their generosity and their thoughtfulness,” noted Ms. Minnick. ”These incredible gifts not only enhance the lives of those in our generation but will continue to do so for many generations to come.”
Attending the luncheon were Sandra Fuentes and Idalia Baudo of BMO Private Bank, Sydelle Meyer, Lawrence Greenberg, Ayten and Tuncer Someren, Rita and Herbert Krauss, Joan Chodorkoff, Naomi Bash, Betsy Vaughan, Janice Stearns, Vaughn Yeager, Laurie Barney and Janet Reyn, Alice Rudine, Bob Koo, Sarah Collins, June Jones, Muriel Kaplan, Wila Spivak, Dawn and LaRue Dahlberg, Doris Hodroff, Barbara Dorian, Harry Striebel and Marcia and Robert Sparrow.
BMO Private Bank is also sponsoring the Annie Leibovitz exhibition, which is open daily at the Museum through June 9, 2013.
“BMO Private Bank is very pleased sponsor both the Donor of Art luncheon and the Annie Leibovitz exhibition at the Norton this season,” said Ms. Fuentes, vice president/senior portfolio manager for BMO Private Bank in West Palm Beach. “BMO takes great pride in providing partnerships with our clients and the communities we serve.”
Organized by the Norton Museum of Art, Annie Leibovitz is made possible through the generosity of Ralph and Muriel Saltzman, with additional support by The Mr. and Mrs. Hamish Maxwell Exhibition Endowment, with media support provided by WPTV Channel 5 and the Miami Herald.
One of the most celebrated photographers of our time, Annie Leibovitz has been documenting American popular culture since the early 1970’s, when her work began appearing in Rolling Stone. For nearly 30 years her photos have appeared regularly in Vanity Fair and Vogue. A retrospective of her work from 1970 to 1990 was presented by the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. and the International Center of Photography in New York. A Photographer’s Life, 1990-2005 opened at the Brooklyn Museum and toured widely, including the National Portrait Gallery in London and the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia. Leibovitz’s most recent exhibition, Pilgrimage, opened at the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, D.C. early this year.
