BMO Recognizes Milwaukee's Accomplished and Inspiring Women

BMO Celebrating Women applauds successful women leaders in their communities as part of its mission to drive the advancement of women

MILWAUKEE, WI, Sept. 27, 2017 /CNW/ - BMO Harris Bank recognized three local women at the BMO Celebrating Women program event in Milwaukee last night, which honored women leaders in the following categories: Women Who Lead, Women Who Serve and Women Who Inspire.

At the Milwaukee event, the first held by BMO in the U.S, the following honorees were recognized:

  • Women Who Lead: Danae Davis. Davis is currently the acting Director of Milwaukee Succeeds, a citywide partnership working to improve all aspects of education for children from Pre-K through college graduation to help prepare individuals for life after education. Previously, she was the Director of Pearls for Teen Girls, leading a development program that serves girls from middle school and beyond - teaching PEARLS values including respect, leadership and support.
  • Women Who Serve: Mary Lou Young. Young has served as the President and CEO of United Way of Greater Milwaukee and Waukesha County since 2009. She's been a leader from the start, successfully guiding the merger of United Way of Greater Milwaukee and Waukesha counties to help propel United Way's vision forward. Mary Lou's passion to serve has helped strengthen communities and earned her several prestigious awards including Executive of the Year – Honorable Mention by Milwaukee Business Journal in December 2015.
  • Women Who Inspire: Mary Burke. Burke is the founder and CEO of Building Brave – a non-profit organization committed to women discovering their most confident selves. She is also the co-founder of AVID/TOPS, a non-profit dedicated to helping kids strive to be the first in their family to attend college. Burke was named "People of the Year" in 2011 by Madison Magazine.

"These honorees are successful, influential leaders that serve as an inspiration to our community," said Kara Kaiser, managing director at BMO Private Bank. "BMO Celebrating Women seeks to recognize women for their remarkable contributions in business and to our communities, in addition to those who work diligently for the advancement and celebration of women."

The Celebrating Women program follows BMO's second Catalyst Award win for its industry-leading work to accelerate diversity and inclusion in its workplace and dedication to gender equality.
